FACIAL CONTOURING
Facial Contouring surgeries are cosmetic procedures designed to slim the face.
OTHER RELATED PROCEDURES
Facial Contouring surgery involves changing your underlying bone structure in order to shape your face.
The procedures that fall within this category are zygoma (cheekbone) reduction, mandible (jaw) reduction and genioplasty (surgery to shape the chin). When mandible reduction and genioplasty are combined, this is known as V-line surgery. If your masseter muscle is large, this can also be reduced.
These procedures are fairly major and are done under general anaesthesia for your safety.
The best candidate for this surgery is someone that is not happy with the width of their face or jaw. They should be willing to undergo a surgical procedure and are able to have some swelling for about 1 month.
The procedures most suitable for you will be decided by your surgeon and discussed with you. The procedures can be done together or separately.
Because the shape of your bone is being changed, the effect is permanent.
Anytime after 18 years of age. However, if the surgery is performed at a later age, you may need a face lift at the same time.
The bones take about 4-6 weeks to heal.
The bones will be held together with titanium plates and screws, you may choose to remove them once your bones have healed but it’s not absolutely necessary.
