How is Reconstructive Rhinoplasty and Aesthetic Rhinoplasty different?


Rhinoplasty commonly referred to as a “nose job” by patients is a surgical procedure done to improve the facial anatomy and proportions of your nose. However, not all rhinoplasties are done for aesthetic purposes. We see many patients who come to us requesting for nose surgery and not for an aesthetic purpose. Some of these reasons include:

  1. Reconstructive rhinoplasty for cancer
  2. Cleft rhinoplasty
  3. Traumatic rhinoplasty
  4. Revision rhinoplasty after problems with an aesthetic rhinoplasty

Whilst, the reasons for doing a rhinoplasty can be different, the understanding of the anatomy of the nose and surgical principles are similar and these concepts can be applied.
