MEDICAL TATTOOS
  • What are Medical Tattoos?

Medical micropigmentation, or medical tattooing, is a technique to restore the appearance of skin via a process similar to ‘tattooing’. With the use of advanced techniques we are able to use colour and artistry to cover or camouflage your existing scars.

  • What kinds of medical tattoo are available?

We provide nipple reconstruction (nipple and areola), scar reduction of mainly depigmented scars, stretch mark removal, and vitiligo correction.

  • How does it work?

A machine with a single-use medical tattooing needle is used to deposit sterile mineral or organic pigments into the dermis. A combination of techniques will ensure a natural appearance.

  • Does it hurt?

The procedure does sting as it is essentially a tattoo after all. However, the pain is minimal and depending on your pain threshold, entirely manageable. Oral painkillers and topical numbing cream are given to minimise the pain if necessary. In some instances, the area may be insensate or numb e.g. nipple reconstruction and there is no need for any painkillers.

  • What is the healing process like?

After the session, you may experience irritation as well as the scabbing of skin. All of this is part of your body’s healing process. The patient is also advised to apply an ice pack as well as the provided healing cream to alleviate irritation that may occur. When healing, avoid contact with water, cosmetics or the sun.

  • How long will the tattoo last?

Depending on the care of the tattoo and exposure to sunlight, most tattoos will retain its pigmentation for 6-7 years. After which, a touch-up may be required.
